June 4, 2010

VINTAGE BLACK FRIDAY

I have been wanting to participate in Vintage Black Friday for awhile and am finally getting my act together to do so.
Today I thought I would show you a thrift store lamp that I re-vamped a couple months back.
I stamped strips of torn sheet with one of the stamps from my "Paris" set and then glued them to the frame of the shade.

The lamp started out as a brass piece and I gave it a few coats of black spray paint......VOILA.... instantly transformed to a piece that I love.
Thanks so much for all the encouraging comments about my new blog name!!!
Happy weekend everyone....I'll be working nightshifts at the hospital!

Love the lamp! The ruffles with the black are perfect! I gotta say I also like your new name... it really does describe you well! Crazy thing is I have been thinking about doing the same thing because people close to me are starting to freak me out a little about the fact that I used our address. I really did give it some thought but never thought that I would get very personal in my blogging. and. then. I. did. Well it was supposed to be only my artwork and decorating. So now that it has been brought to my attention I can't stop thinking about it. O.k. back to you, sorry, your new lamp is fabulous and hope you have a good weekend! theresa

Hey Janis,
Love your new name. It is just you!!! I wish i could have been with all my "junk friends" at the show. I have been loving the pictures. The shade looks super as well as the lamp.
My blogs are going to be slim pickins I think for a while. I leave for Australia mid June to mid July. I hope I can last the month. Have a great weekend.

Wow! I can't tell you how much I love that lamp!! I've been redoing a few myself and always go for the white paint can, almost by default. WELL, I think I'm heading to Lowe's for some black!
Thanks for such an inspiring idea!

Love your lamp and such a clever idea for the shade. In my book, you can't go wrong with black, crystals, ruffles, and Paris. Love your new name. Just wondering, were you able to change your name without starting a new blog? I fairly new to blogging.
